Formulary Search To search for a drug in our formulary, choose the plan you are interested in, and then enter the first three letters of the name of the drug or the complete name. Search results will provide you detailed information about the drug, including which tier the drug is in, whether there is a quantity limit (QL) for that particular drug, if there is a lower cost-alternative drug available, and if prior authorization (PA) from the plan is required before receiving the drug, and it the drug requires a step therapy (ST) routine, those required drugs are listed. The plan covers both brand name drugs and generic drugs. Generic drugs have the same active ingredient formula as a brand name drug. Generic drugs usually cost less than brand name drugs and are rated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be as safe and effective as brand name drugs. Formularies are updated on a monthly basis and can change during the year. The formularies were last updated on September 2008.
